Forge & Forage: A full-Day Course

Embark on a unique hands-on journey that combines the ancient art of forging with the joy of foraging. Join us for a full day in partnership with Kingdom Forge, led by the talented craftsman Paul. Kingdom Forge is renowned for creating bespoke hand-forged knives and tools using traditional blacksmithing techniques, with a focus on quality and craftsmanship. Paul’s passion for the trade shines through as he guides you in crafting your very own foraging mushroom knife. This immersive course will take you from the fields to the forge, giving you a deeper connection to the land and the tools of the trade.

Approx Timings:
08:30 – Kick off the day with coffee and freshly baked cookies as you meet your fellow participants and course leaders.
09:00 – Foraging & Knife Making, The group will be divided into two for the morning session. One group will venture out into the surrounding countryside foraging for wild edibles under expert guidance. Meanwhile, the second group will head into the forge to craft their very own foraging mushroom knife with Paul’s help from Kingdom Forge, learning about the blacksmithing process and what makes each knife unique (sturdy footwear & suitable clothing, optional personal drink required for foraging).
12/12:30 – Return to Cook school
12:30 – 3 Course meal with a glass of wine/beer/soft drink, prepared using seasonal produce from our evening menu.
14:00 – Afternoon session – After lunch, the groups will swap roles. If you spent the morning foraging, it’s now your turn to forge a knife, and vice versa. Each participant will leave with newfound knowledge and a handcrafted tool to use on future foraging adventures.
17:00 – Finsh & depart
